Making a fuss
2012 is proving to be eventful and likely to stay that way for a few months yet. So I'm not feeling guilty about doing something that is very much in my comfort zone (not that I'm a great one for stepping out of it!) - I've started another small paper pieced log cabin quilt, which may or may not end up being a copy of this one, but in another colourway. I feel like doing something fussy and colourful and I'm hoping that it will be one of those patterns that becomes clearer the further away you are from it.

Felicity, these are just lovely and so intricate. It must take such patience to make one.
Thanks Sketchbook Squirrel (love the name!)! I find them very relaxing but I do know from teaching the technique that not everyone is a fan of paper piecing!
This looks promising - nice and bright! I know you can make these blocks without paper piecing, but in my experience you get better results with paper piecing. Go for it!
Thanks Sheila! These are 3" blocks so quite small but yes,one of these days I want to do a raw edge wobbly log cabin too. I don't mind log cabin bed quilts (12" blocks) but I prefer the smaller blocks. I'd do the 12" blocks in the normal way but paper piecing taps into my nit picky tendancies! ;)
How lovely. And it's great to be in a comfort zone sometimes. A time to recharge.
This is looking gorgeous!
Thanks Bridget, I'm having fun with the colours!
Thanks Cathy!
