The early bird catches the worm, but the early bee looked a little sad buzzing around last year's fuchias! We left some hanging baskets out over the winter and they looked like they'd been frozen in time. Spring has arrived with a bang this year - I was amazed to see such big bumble bees so early - and the flowers are out, the birds are singing, the sun is warm and even the bats are out at dusk!
It's hard to get motivated to paint when it's cold and grey outside, but now there is colour and warmth again, I can't wait to get going. I'm feeling a bit rusty with the watercolours though so I'm doing little studies to get back up to speed. This poor ladybird was kidnapped from the garden for these sketches although he didn't seem to mind too much. Interesting that on closer examination, ladybirds are not 'pillar box' red but quite a 'browny' red.
A study of some female Monkey Puzzle seeds I did a couple of weeks ago and forgot to post! (Gone are the days, thank goodness, when I first started this blog and had to post anything as soon as I'd finished!) I'm fond of Monkey Puzzle trees and there is one in a little park near here. It's the first time I've seen the seeds and I discovered that there are male and female trees with different shaped cones so our local tree is a female!

Beautiful paintings, love the flowers (they look like they are falling every so softley in the air), lovely colours too. The lady bugs are cute, cant wait to see spring come here too (we still have nasty cold winds and frost, and even some snow left on the ground... so miss spring). I also loved the shoes your last post, I love shoes too : )
