Watching paint dry?

I love this. Of course I enjoyed watching you draw, but apart from that the music and the clatter of the discarded pencils were great.
Thanks Olga - that's a relief! The pencils are very clattery aren't they?
Actually, Felicity, It was FABULOUS!!!!! I LOVE watching you work! Even watching it I simply cannot believe how meticulous you work .. bit by wee bit ... and how awesome the finished product!!! I'll watch it again and again!! THANk YOU!
Works a treat, Felicity. I agree it is lovely to watch you work.
I was hoping you might tilt up to the balcony view at the end :)
Thanks Lin! LOL! That's me being wild and free - my 'meticulous mode' is really boring! ;)
Robyn, thank you, I may just do that next time!
Well, from my perspective, so far so good. Watching you paint is unbelievable, thanks for sharing and taking all the inconveniences to do so! I'd love to see your 'meticulous' mode, I'm sure that would be sooooo instructive. It's invaluable to see a video, especially from very talented people like you, I hope you can keep posting them... (please!)
This is just incredible! And I remember how shy and diffident you used to be about drawing in public! Your work is just reaching the stratosphere in terms of mastery.
It's so funny to compare working habits---I would find that music so distracting. I have music that calms me in the background, if I have it at all.
These late portraits are thrilling to behold!
Carolina, thanks so much, I'm glad it was interesting! This really is just me scrubbing and scratching around - there isn't time to do much and when filming you don't concentrate as you normally do. In graphite, the amount of work I did here would probably take half an hour to an hour, or thereabouts!
Laura, thanks very much, that means a lot to me! Yes, it's interesting. Sometimes I can't bear any music and can go for months without any, and other times, like now, I get a new CD and feel really inspired and energised when I listen to it. Just depends on the mood at the time.
Oh my!! This was so much fun to see you work, Felicity! Besides your fabulous work just getting to share your process a little was most enjoyable! :))
This is fun to watch ... show us more!
:-)
Wow--this is fabulous, Felicity! You have such ability and it's fascinating to watch you in action. Thanks for including the video--beautiful!
Wow! Thanks for your video, as I have so much discovery on your blog and drawings.
The process is great!
Excellent:)
lovely to see you at work - the drawing, the music, clattering of the pencils. and the finished piece is fabulous.
being easily distracted i now work without music. while in college there always used to be music playing - the latest bollywood songs :P but after some time it would get tuned out along with the rest of the hubbub around us. i've been wanting to try it out again.
Hi Felicity,
Just happened across your video -- it's really GREAT. I've been thinking of making videos, too, so I watched it really closely.
I'd love to see what you're doing MUCH closer up -- how about mounting the camera more toward the top, near where the crown of your head is when you're leaning over your art to work.
That way the viewer could watch you work close-up, but the camera wouldn't be in your way and you could work comfortably. A running commentary on what and why and how you're doing it would be a a really valuable addition.
Make some more! And thank you SO much for this one ~ clean and beautifully done.
