TV sketches

Getting back into the swing of sketching from the TV again. It's been a very stressful week and these are a bit of instant gratification! I watched a programme called So You Think You're Royal, where ordinary people suspect they have royal ancestors and the experts on the show dig around to find out whether it's true or not. I really enjoyed catching these profiles, above. The woman, sister of actor Jerome Flynn, finds she is a descendant of Oliver Cromwell, Edward I, Edward II and Edward III. I thought she bore an uncanny resemblance to Oliver Cromwell from one particular portrait. Below her is Lord Devon, who I'm sure I've met, when I was working in Belgrave Square.

The dachshund was sitting on the lap of this man, Charles Mosley, Editor-in-Chief of Burke's Peerage. He looks very haughty and I get the feeling he'd much rather the people on the show were not entitled to have an entry in his precious publication! Below, a face from the same show. One of the descendants was a plantation owner in the Caribbean. Some of the details that emerged about the way the slaves were treated and killed were really harrowing.

Sketching from Sky News again, on the big day! Adam Boulton, below, looking frozen in Washington. I think I finally got his face this time! Top left is Sir Victor Blank, Chairman of Lloyds TSB. And Obama of course. He has got off to a very encouraging start but I can't help wondering if we all expect far too much from him. Goodness knows, we could all do with something to be optimistic about though!

I like the way the the gentleman and the doxie have similar expressions and noses pointing int he same direction. I finally got my cable tv turned off to keep me from watching so much tv. But you make such good use of your tv time! Much better than I ever did.
