In the garden

I read on Serena's blog that there is a 'photo a day' challenge happening in for the month of January. After my 'Up close and personal' post I've decided to do similar things in other rooms of the house but after reading that I thought it would be interesting to include photos from my local environment too.

I knew I couldn't commit to doing it every day - I'll do it occassionally and not restrict it to January - but it got off to bad start yesterday when I went out and forget to bring my camera! So here are some from the more immediate environment, the garden. The swimming pool cover, above. Swimming pools look very depressing in the winter months, I think. It snowed the day before and froze overnight so the snow that wasn't cleared is now solid ice and very dangerous to walk on.

It's surprising how much colour there is when you look closely! Ground cover (Saxifrage?) in the front garden.

Above, we already have some daffodil shoots! I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't gone out to take photos.

oH MAN, does that look cold!!! I love the shots, Felicity -- life through ice -- love it!

Love the layer of cold that seems to envelop everything. It's hard to think that you'll be swimming in the same pool in just a matter of months.

I wish you the best in 2009 Felicity!

Hi Felicity,

You might be interested to know that the January Photo-A-Day challenge will be expanding to A-Photo-A-Week for 2009 from the start of February. One photo a week is much more do-able. I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing your photos today.
