In the works

Another portrait in the works, this time of Mark's nephew, Ben. Gradually members of the family are being revealed! I've been procrastinating longer than usual over the hair so this has been on the easel too long now. In between I've gone back to sketching from the TV - I feel I lose my sketching ability somewhat when I get involved in these larger portraits. And the results in my sketchbook proved that! I also had some distractions with building work being done on the bathrooms (not finished yet) and collecting and sending off my portrait of Paul to England for the UKCPS exhibition. It was ready 3 days early and the frame looked better than I expected, so I have fingers crossed my luck holds out and it arrives in one piece! My tickets are booked so I'm looking forward to seeing the other entries - it's strange but I've never actually seen any other coloured pencil work up close. I have two more portraits lined up after this one, so I'd better get cracking but hair never seems to get any easier!

Just by the bit of shine on the lower lip and on the tip of the nose, i am sure this is going to be another stunner. No pressure whatsoever, of course! :-D

The range of color is amazing. What brand of pencil are you using?

Thanks Reggabah, and welcome! I'm using Lyra Rembrandts on the face but there will be some Polychromos too (for the shirt) which I will write about when I post the finished portrait. I also list the materials used in the labels underneath each post.
