Cute and fluffy these are not! Some clouds are just creepy! I don't normally like cloud and rain but it's been a tremendous relief after what seems like weeks of stifling heat.
With all those high mountains around you are going to get some really spectacular clouds - these are fantastic! Have you seen The Cloudspotter's Guide? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0340895896/202-6104931-9875002?v=glance&n=266239
The white hibiscus should shine out on really dark stormy days. I too remember the wild fuchsias in Scotland - my favourite one at the moment is Thalia, but it is tender and I have to put the pot in the greenhouse over winter.
Looks like a normal day here in the S.F. Bay Area. Every day the fog comes in looking just like that (that is if it left--sometimes it just sits here for days on end). Your photos are beautiful! I enjoyed catching up on your blog tonight.

Whooooa! I've never seen clouds that look like that. It's like they have fingers reaching down to grab the building. Eerie!
