I surrender!

I put up a brave fight but I finally succumbed and bought a Moleskine (or two)! These are poor photographs as they don't even show the correct colour of the paper which is a soft creamy yellow.

I was going to do some interior sketches of the apartment but it's not very attractive. What's really interesting are the details. The furniture and light fittings are crammed full of twiddly, fiddly, twirly details. Somehow, even though all the items are different, they all manage to look as if they have come from the same designers hand! I think they are hideous but as objects to draw - fascinating! This is a chair on the balcony. There are four with a table to match, and all so big there is barely room to stand.

This monstrosity (or beauty perhaps?) is what I see first thing in the morning (it could be a challenge drawing!) I love the negative shapes which is why I've concentrated on lines and not shading. It's not symmetrical and as I was drawing it I saw that it is broken in places too so it's very difficult to make out! The strange shape at the heart of this is actually a load of wiring! (Note the wires running up the stems). On top of the stems are plastic candles with fake drips and even the bulbs have curves! My lines aren't off, it really is that wonky. A layer of dust completes the look.

Great drawings! What a light fixture -- and is it hanging over your bed? Oh my!
The photos are wonderful, too. Can't wait to see the series pics!

Felicity,
Your drawings are so perfect, they look like photos. I would love to be able to do that.

Felicity, these drawings are amazing! I love the scalloped edges at the base of the lights on the hanging chandelier and the bench is so lovely. I miss seeing you post your drawings!

P.S. I love the little blue shutters...there is just something about them that says "home."
