EDM # 60 Draw a car

No contest! It's gotta be an Aston - Paul is mad about them. This is the V8 Vantage. I might have put it on my lottery list but we saw the new Aston Martin Rapide (4 door) and I fell in love with it, it's gorgeous! It was the highlight of the Geneva Motor Show for me and the guys on the Aston Martin stand really made Paul's day. Only a few members of the public were allowed near the cars at a time as the stand was surrounded by a perspex glass barrier. So we queued and waited. When we were finally let in, we were watched like hawks but I told one of the guys about Paul's obsession, asked a few questions about their new designer and he said ' how would you like to be VIP's for 15 minutes?' He opened the door to a room hidden to the public and we entered a room with a few people drinking champagne and admiring a DB9 Coupe. With all the paint and upholstery options on the wall I guess this is where the serious buyers were brought. He gave Paul some glossy brochures and posters and he got to sit in the car. I'm still regretting turning down the opportunity! Drooling over the brochures later and choosing my colours, it amused me that you can order any type of paint and upholstery but you need to contact Aston Martin to 'discuss your stitching options'!




















Anyway, back to reality...the quality of these drawings isn't great as I haven't got my scanner. I started with the drawing at the top and used a grid to copy it as I thought this would be too difficult. It didn't feel right at all - too clinical - so I started again and 'eyeballed' it! I don't think I did the wheels very well which is why I left them a little sketchy. Too much precision required on those alloy wheels! 2B pencil
