EDM # 11 Draw your glasses

I've drawn Alex's using an HB pencil. I'm beginning to like the feel of the softer pencil and how quick it is to shade compared with the 2H I normally use. I'm also realising that I'm not so worried about it looking 'perfect' which may have been a reason why I got bored with drawing a couple of years ago.

The only problem with these challenges is that, as I'm starting to enjoy this, I can see a million things around the house that I want to draw! How silly it seems now that I used to look for inspiration in books and magazines when it is all around me!

This is wonderful! As for perfection, it's an ogre who would destroy art and the joy of doing it. I refuse to let him rule!

YOur drawings are really skilled! I love the presser feet. I teach dress design and you have elevated a common tool!

Soft pencils are the way to go! I never use anything harder than HB. 5B to 8B are my favorites. Try it out and I think you'll love it. Great drawing btw!

Wow-very nice!
I know what you mean about the challenges. It is amazing to me how such simple suggestions of everyday things turn into wonderful drawings.

This is a great sketch Felicity. Yes, the perfection beast is a tyranical ruler if you let it take hold. Giving it the boot is so liberating and it really shows in the artwork. I enjoy your blog, well done. :o)

Felicity, this is a great drawing, skillfully done. The big bonus of doing the challenges is that you DO start to see how everyday things can be subject matter for drawing. One day you realize that, rather than having nothing to draw, you have too many things you want to draw! :-)
